American Woman's Republic papers, 1910-1912.

The collection contains a Brief prospectus of the American Woman's Republic (ca. 1912); a circular letter soliciting members to have their names inscribed in the Capitol building [in St. Louis] with photos of the building on the reverse (n.d.); a broadside, "The Solution," a plan consolidating the debt of the Lewis Publishing Company and University Heights Realty and Development Company with a subscription blank for the Builders' Fund. Also, from the League (the educational division) to Mrs. Grace Perris, Bridgton, Maine, a postcard (October 1910) acknowledging receipt of $10 worth of certificates, a letter (9 November 1910) returning her passbook for the Builders' Fund, and the passbook.

The American Woman's League was formed in 1908 in University City, St. Louis, Missouri, by E.G. Lewis, a St. Louis publisher, as a subscription-gathering agency for his publications.
